Stormchaser Influx!!
It has been a while since I posted the graphic below but an updated version kind shows what happens with so many new chasers being out there. Reports of tornado's have skyrocketed but the actual number of tornado's are near average and will probably end up at or below average once all of the numbers are in. I noticed this many times while chasing this spring with tornado's being reported in the same location I was in and I would be left scratching my head thinking "how did I miss that"? Guess most of the time I really did not miss anything.

Happy Birthday to me!!!
Today is my birthday and last year on this day I was chasing some storms in Central Oklahoma and ended up catching some of pretty cool tower lightning in OKC. (video below)

This year on my birthday there was a chase opportunity way out west but I was not really that interested. Probably won't be any updates on this blog until late fall and that will only be if something gets interesting. I will probably get the website over haul bug some time before winter but not really sure about that.

Chase Today???
I have never really been a big fan of High Risk setups because usually that means just a tad to much. Sitting here in Wichita and will be ready to go this afternoon but looking at what spc has up does not really get me that excited, especially the 60% wind threat with only a 30% hail threat. Looks to me like this is a High Risk for a straight line wind event. If I were in Tulsa I would probably just stay there and wait for this stuff to come in. Looking at the area just west of here Alva to Pratt and will wait and see how it plays out.

Couple of more pics from yesterday.
Got a chance to see video of the tornado's that storm dropped minutes after we left! Ouch! haha!! Wish it would have done that 30 minute earlier, although I guess it tried. Pics below.

Kansas Supercell
Took the boys chasing today and played it pretty safe by sticking to the southern storms and staying on the main roads. Tooks some incredible pics but won't really mess with them on the laptop since the display is not that good. Pulled off of the cell below once it got to Osborne becuase I was not going to take the kids into areas I was not confortable with, it did cost me some tornado's as they started dropping after we pulled off but I am not to concerned about it although I would have been all over them had I been by myself.

Looking overhead with a wide angle near Plainville, KS

This is the first frame of a 5 shot panoramic, have to wait to get home to run them through the software.
